Pauwels Group is one of the leading manufacturers of innovative, three-phase distribution and power transformers, operating manufacturing plants and subsidiary companies on three continents, producing more than 30,000 transformers every year.
With a significant increase in market share and a desire to further expand the business internationally, Pauwels quickly identified a gap within its leadership team. Subsequently the role of Global Engineering Manager was introduced and here Koen Van Peteghem, General Manager of the T&D systems division explains the steps the organisation took, and how Executives Online played a key role in finding exactly the right candidate for the job.
After five months of failed recruitment searches, Pauwels turned to Executives Online and provided the fast track headhunting company with a detailed brief of their requirements. Five to ten years experience in the specialised sector that the organisation operates in was vital as well as the ability to speak English fluently. As Global Engineering Manager the potential candidate needed to support the rapid growth of the company whilst overseeing individual turnkey contracts worth up to £10 million. Pauwels also wanted to feel confident that the candidate could manage and motivate the individual, engineering teams located in different parts of the world including Belgium, Kuwait, Hungary and Indonesia.
Through its Fast Track Search methodology which is part of a unique, three stage process, Executives Online was able to search its global talent bank of pre-screened candidates in order to identify whether an existing optimum-match already existed. This process was further complemented by a comprehensive digital search of candidates using its online acquisition engine and web search tools. After a matter of weeks Executives Online was able to submit a short list of best match candidates for consideration. Its understanding of the requirements and the culture of Pauwels' organisation meant that Executives Online provided Van Peteghem with a strong short list where one particular candidate stood out. With previous experience working as a lead electrical engineer in high voltage substations coupled with specific expertise working on international projects in the Middle East and the US, Shantanu D was considered to be exactly the right candidate for the job. With continuous support from Executives Online a series of face to face meetings and interviews took place to clarify that Shantanu was indeed the right fit for the organisation and as a result he was offered the role which he accepted.
